Deborah
Lynn Ferro
Deborah has been on the fast track in photography since 1996 when
her passion for photography became more than a serious hobby. Even
though her background as a water-color artist gave her a great eye
for photography, she wanted to increase her technical skills to
a higher level. In 1996, she enrolled in the University of North
Florida and after several classes in photography she was honored
by her work exhibited in the University's Student Art Show. Since
then, she has traveled extensively in the United States and Europe
studying with master photographers at workshops including Palm Beach
Photographic Center, Sante Fe workshop, PPA and WPPI workshops.
Some of the master photographers she has studied with are Tim Kelly,
Michael Taylor, Helen Yancy, Bobbi Lane, Hansen Fong and Monte Zucker.
Deborah has been an active member of the Jacksonville Camera Club
since 1996 serving on their board. After winning numerous awards
for her portrait work, Deborah decided to open for business. Since
opening her photography studio, in addition to her portrait and
digital artistry work, her clients have included Pillsbury, the
Broach School, Bank of America, Kingdom Keys Music, Stellar's Gallery
and Target to name a few.
Deborah
has her master's in photography from Wedding and Portrait Photographers
International, WPPI and is working on her masters from PPA, Professional
Photographers of America. She is an active member of such professional
organizations as FPP, PPA, WPPI and her local guild, PPSNF.
Deborah
is a state-of-the-art photographer keeping with the latest trends
in photography and its plunge into digital technology. She educates
other photographers that are considering getting into digital. She
uses a Fuji S2 for her portrait work, and a Cannon 1-D for her wedding
photojournalistic work. Her current endeavor is mastering Corel's
"Painter" to incorporate watercolor portraiture for her
clients.
In
2000, Deborah helped to start a Photoshop user group, NFPUG, in
her community. Deborah has extensive training in Photoshop, and
is a member of National Association of Photoshop Professionals,
NAPP. She is currently teaching around the country "Practical
Photoshop Techniques for Photographers." Some of the Photoshop
techniques highlighted in her classes will be published in a book
by Amherst Media, Wedding Photography with Adobe Photoshop
that she is co-authoring with her husband, Rick Ferro. The book
is now available and can be ordered here
on the website.
